Leone’s chocolate range expansion puts assortment and pack choices in focus

Cosmo Food EU Editorial

Food Affairs reports that Leone 1857 has broadened its chocolate range across bars, filled chocolates and Cri Cri confectionery. The new combinations include bars with whole nuts, a dark version of its gianduiotto, and chocolates with matcha or pistachio flavours. Almond-centred Cri Cri versions join an assortment that already includes hazelnut and pistachio formats.

The report also describes coffee and rum additions to the Grezzo range, which uses stone processing and has a granular texture. These developments illustrate several routes to variety: changing an inclusion, a filling or the eating texture. The article identifies domestic retail and the brand’s own sales channels, rather than providing export order terms.

Cosmo’s buyer view: build an assortment around the customer occasion and intended price point. Decide whether a product serves everyday snacking, gifting or a specialist chocolate range, then compare its contribution with lines already listed. More flavours need a clear commercial purpose if they also create extra stock and packaging complexity.

Request current product specifications, allergen documentation, pack and case sizes, storage instructions and remaining shelf life at delivery. For nut-based and filled chocolates, assess samples under the expected distribution conditions before approving a listing. Confirm destination labelling, minimum orders and repeat-supply terms for each item. These are buyer checks, not terms or performance guarantees established by the launch report.
