Inalpi’s milk-protein investment puts 2027 qualification trials in focus

Cosmo Food EU Editorial

FOOD/Foodweb reports that Inalpi has launched Inalpi Nutrition, a company focused on developing higher-value components of milk. A converted production tower is expected to become operational in the first quarter of 2027 and to produce milk-protein ingredients, including concentrates and isolates. The report attributes a €20 million investment plan to the company. These are development plans, rather than confirmation that the new output is already available.

For international buyers, the timetable creates an opportunity to organise qualification work before discussing a supply programme. Different protein ingredients can behave differently in a finished recipe, so a proposed substitution deserves more than a comparison of headline protein content.

Cosmo’s buyer view: define the intended application, target texture, flavour and processing conditions in the sourcing brief. Request the exact ingredient specification, composition, allergen information, manufacturing-site details and available samples. Agree how solubility, heat stability and finished-product quality will be assessed during representative trials.

Before making a commercial commitment, clarify when samples and production volumes can be supplied, which delivery windows can be confirmed and how specification changes will be communicated. Review any proposed nutrition wording against the finished recipe and destination-market requirements. An investment announcement can open a useful supplier conversation; purchasing decisions still depend on documented performance, availability and commercial terms.
