British dairy export drive puts market access and supply terms in focus
Cosmo Food EU EditorialDairyReporter reports that British dairy exports reached £973 million in the first half of 2026. The Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board has hosted buyers from Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam and Mexico, with production visits and buyer meetings in Manchester and London. AHDB identifies Asia as a growth region and reports a first cheese consignment to Mexico under CPTPP in October.
Cosmo’s buyer interpretation: a trade-development programme can introduce useful suppliers, while an individual order still requires its own checks. Ask the manufacturer to confirm the exact cheese or dairy specification, product origin, packaging format and destination-market documentation. Clarify which party is responsible for checking import conditions before signing a supply agreement.
For a longer distribution route, agree the remaining shelf life required on arrival, storage temperature and handling instructions. Compare offers on the same delivery basis, with quotation validity, order minimums and production slots stated clearly. Request samples that represent the product and packaging intended for the shipment.
Broad export values describe trade activity; they do not establish a particular supplier’s available capacity or price. Buyers should document product approval, delivery commitments and the process for handling changes before scheduling a launch.
