Paper-fiber bottles: questions before choosing an export pack
Cosmo Food EU EditorialFood Affairs’ 8 October report describes moulded paper-fiber bottles developed by UK company Pulpex. Perlen Papier intends to serve Italy and neighboring markets and is evaluating production at a Swiss site from late 2027. This remains a prospective project rather than an operating Swiss supply arrangement.
The article lists food and beverage applications, including oils and dairy. Those reported uses are a starting point for discussion; they do not demonstrate suitability for every recipe, filling line or destination market.
Our buyer interpretation is to begin with the product’s protection requirements. An olive oil project, for example, can ask for evidence on light and oxygen protection, food-contact compliance and closure compatibility. The relevant performance must be established for the proposed bottle and the actual product, rather than inferred from a general packaging description.
A practical development sequence would combine document review with filling trials and distribution testing. Buyers can then compare pack weight, handling, shelf-life validation, order quantities and delivery commitments with their current format. These are independent project questions prompted by the report. No environmental result, recyclability claim or commercial availability is established here, and the companies mentioned are not presented as Cosmo partners.
